RinkNotes is built consent-first, and a few principles hold throughout:
  • The club controls the data; RinkNotes processes it on the club’s behalf under a data processing agreement accepted at setup.
  • No capture without consent. A player’s information isn’t captured or kept until their parent consents, and it’s blocked the moment a parent withdraws.
  • Parents have real controls — they can correct, export, and withdraw at any time. See the Parents section.
  • Minimal about minors. Only a birth year is stored, never a full date of birth, and players never log in.
  • Isolation between families. Parent volunteers can capture but never see any player’s outputs, and a parent only ever sees their own child — one family can’t read another’s.

What a parent can do

Because these come up when parents ask, it helps to know the controls they have:
  • Correct anything that looks wrong (it’s flagged for coaching staff to review).
  • Export a complete copy of everything held about their child, at any time.
  • Withdraw consent — capture stops immediately and their page clears.
